The South Leeds Academy has an innovative and exciting approach to transition, which reflects our Academy family values.

Transition into TSLA begins before the September term of yr 7. Some students are lucky enough to experience our summer school where businesses and the local community support staff at TSLA to put on an innovative and engaging introduction to the academy. All students will be provided with a transition pack of activities they can work through during the summer either on their own or with parents and carers to ensure they make the best start possible in the September.

The curriculum has been set up to provide the support we feel necessary to ease the transition from primary school to secondary education. In World Studies students take part in an identity project which helps them reflect on their successes at primary school and develop and share their personal hopes and goals for the future. Year 7 projects are designed to be both engaging and academic. Learning new skills and making progress is at the heart of everything we do, and all projects are carefully designed to develop the skills and knowledge students need to make progress.
